Dilip Chhajed serves as Associate Dean for Schoolwide Programs and Executive Director of the BS in Integrated Business and Engineering (IBE) program at the Mitch Daniels School of Business. He has led the development of online programs and, for two years, managed the full portfolio of residential and online offerings, encompassing thirteen MBA and MS programs and nine graduate certificates.
He played a central role in creating the multidisciplinary IBE degree, developed in collaboration with the Purdue University College of Engineering. The program reflects Daniels’ strategic focus on operating at the intersection of business and technology.
Prior to joining Purdue, Dilip was a Professor of Information, Operations, Supply Chain, and Analytics at the Gies College of Business. During his time there, he served as Associate Head and Executive Director of Master’s Programs, overseeing four programs and leading the development of three new degrees: the MS in Technology Management, MS in Management, and the fully online MS in Strategic Brand Communication, offered jointly with the College of Media.
Dilip earned his PhD from Purdue University, an MS from University of Texas at Dallas, and a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He has taught at institutions including the University of Warsaw, Sogang University, and GISMA Business School.
His research focuses on product design and healthcare operations. He serves as Department Editor for the journal Decision Sciences and has been on the editorial boards of INFORMS Journal on Computing, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and the International Journal of Operations and Quantitative Management. He also co-edited, with Tim Lowe, the book Building Intuition: Insights from Basic Operations Management Models and Principles.

Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management will begin offering an online Master’s in Business Analytics in fall 2020. The degree is aimed at working professionals. Students will receive broad exposure to various functional areas of business and how they use information to make better-informed decisions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the need for business analysts to increase 14% by 2024, and this degree will prepare participants for a wide variety of roles within the industry.
