Making the Connection - Arielle Rosenberg wants future students to connect even before they land on campus

Hello! My name is Arielle Rosenberg, and I am a graduate student in the MS Human Resource Management Program, graduating in December 2024. I’m also a Unibuddy Ambassador.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington, where I majored in Management and Business Analytics. During my junior and senior years, I started taking classes about human resources and organizational behavior. I was fascinated to learn how human resources is, in many ways, the co-pilot of any business. After graduation, I knew I wanted to further apply my strategic business and analytics training in a master’s in human resource management program. The human resource industry is ever-evolving, and furthering my business acumen at Daniels was the next step in my journey to become a well-rounded, emerging business professional.

I encourage students to take advantage of joining professional organizations and societies, attending student socials, competing in case competitions, engaging in experiential learning, considering graduate research, or simply just exploring campus and absorbing all Purdue has to offer.

Some may find it hard to believe that a Hoosier who once only wore crimson and cream could ever put on the Black and Old Gold. Regardless of the infamous Big Ten rivalry, Purdue University is a leading STEM school, and the graduate programs at the Daniels School of Business enhance students’ analytical skills and transform them into business-savvy leaders of change. This was very important to me because I have always had a keen interest in data analytics within a business context. Enrolling in the human resource management program has been the best investment I've made in my education. More importantly, the faculty and staff invest in me.

Choosing the Daniels School meant more than just showing up for class. Choosing the Daniels School opened the door to my amazing success team, including my program manager, academic director, career coach and professors who champion my learning and professional development inside and outside the classroom.

Having the peer-to-peer support in Unibuddy would have significantly helped me while contemplating the right fit for my master’s program. Often, prospective students do not have quick, direct access to student ambassadors. In the past, prospective students had to email staff and ask to be connected. Unibuddy makes that connection for you. Having the opportunity to directly message an ambassador of the same program is a game changer. You can learn more about their experiences and why they chose to attend Purdue. These stories are invaluable. Every interaction should help you feel supported and empowered in their decision to join the Purdue community.

Unibuddy is the perfect direct messaging channel. It lets you engage with current students, staff, and faculty to better understand program details, accommodations and student life. Whether you are still deciding which school to attend or have accepted your admission decision, Unibuddy can help you with lingering questions, network with your future classmates and meeting your success team before arriving on campus! Getting connected early is a great way to feel immersed in your program before your first day of class. Students can really feel like they are a part of the Boilermaker community by chatting through Unibuddy.

I strive to be an ambassador and champion for my program and Purdue University. I am passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives and contributing to their success in a meaningful way, regardless of whether they commit to Purdue. I do not want my influence to stop after one interaction. It is important to me to stay connected with those I meet through Unibuddy. For those who attend Purdue (or not), I hope to be part of their network.

Finally, I offer my advice to future Boilermakers: It can be easy to fall into a routine of going to class, going home to study and going to class again. Don’t rinse and repeat this cycle. The Daniels School graduate programs are so much more than attending lectures. Find ways to further your development outside the classroom. Take advantage of joining professional organizations and societies, attending student socials, competing in case competitions, engaging in experiential learning, considering graduate research, or simply just exploring campus and absorbing all Purdue has to offer beyond classroom walls. This time goes by so quickly. Don’t spend it doing the same routine. Find something that uniquely shapes your experience and devote time here so that when you graduate, you can reflect on the lasting impact you’ve made at Purdue.
