Purdue University receives $100 million commitment from Lilly Endowment

The Lilly Endowment has committed $50 million to support the construction of the Daniels School’s new 164,000-square-foot building.

“This truly represents the next giant leap for the Daniels School,” says dean Jim Bullard. “We aim to prepare a new generation of business students to tackle the technology-driven challenges of today and tomorrow, and this new building will serve as a representation of our commitment and a beacon for future business leaders.”

Construction on the 164,000-square-foot building is set to begin in summer 2024. The building will be the second-largest classroom building on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, behind only the Wilmeth Active Learning Center.

The new building is designed to be large enough to house a burgeoning student population while also creating a culture of collaboration.

Former World Bank president to join Purdue University and its Daniels School of Business

David Malpass, former president of the World Bank and one of the world’s most experienced economic leaders, will join Purdue University starting Jan. 1, 2024.

Malpass will serve as the Distinguished Fellow of International Finance at the Mitch Daniels School of Business and as the Inaugural Fellow of Global Business and Infrastructure at Purdue@DC. He will split his Purdue engagements between Washington, D.C., and Purdue’s campuses in West Lafayette and Indianapolis.

With the largest jump of any school in the top 30, Purdue’s Daniels School of Business rose nine spots to #21 in this year’s U.S. News & World Report’s undergraduate business program rankings. It’s the school’s highest ranking, which is based on the opinions of business school deans and program directors, since 2018.

James "Jim" Bullard, the longest serving sitting president of the Federal Reserve Banks and a respected economist and scholar-leader, has been chosen to lead Purdue University's reimagined Mitch Daniels School of Business.

On Thursday, July 13, Bullard was appointed as the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean. His leadership will contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of the business school as it strives to provide a world-class business education for its students.

The Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation has committed $50 million to the university to name the undergraduate institute in the Mitch Daniels School of Business.

The new name, the Bruce White Undergraduate Institute, honors the alumnus, who died on January 19, 2023.

The school's Krannert name will be retained for the Krannert Graduate Institute.
