Executive MBA Program Persists in the Face of COVID-19
Tuesday, November 3, 2020
Purdue University has changed many policies and procedures to safeguard the health and well-being of students, faculty and staff. The Executive MBA programs have implemented those guidelines, and more, since the residency format is a pillar of the program. Some of the changes implemented this year include:
Testing Upon Arrival to Campus
- Requiring all EMBA students to be tested upon arrival to campus before classes begin. The program staff organizes the testing while following HIPAA rules
- Testing faculty and staff on a voluntary basis prior to interacting with students
- Housing all students in the newly renovated Purdue Memorial Union hotel across the street from Krannert Center, reducing the need to travel around campus
Restricting Building Access
- Minimizing outside traffic into the building by keeping external doors locked since students can enter using their student ID card
- Checking temperatures of visitors upon arrival to the building
Cleaning & Distancing
- De-densifying rooms to no more than 50% of regular capacity
- Increasing cleaning of surfaces and provision of hand sanitizer in multiple areas
- Requiring masks be worn at all times inside the building
- Labeling areas on floor to ensure proper flow and distancing
- Placing HEPA filters in various rooms to improve air quality
Changing Meal & Beverage Service
- Requiring all eating and drinking take place in the dining area or outside, while maintaining appropriate distance
- Providing individually portioned meals and ensuring all food and beverages be served by trained staff
Evaluating International Residencies
- Deciding not to convert our EMBA programs into online formats, since that would not provide the same interactive learning experience found in our residency programs.
- Monitoring the safety of all residency locations and changing the order of countries visited in the IMM Global EMBA program to ensure a safe environment. This has been our policy for over 35 years
