Dr. Joél Muñoz, SHRM-CP, earned his Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) in Leadership: Organizational Management from Oakland City University. He holds an MBA in Business Administration and a M.S. in Strategic Management from Oakland City University. He earned a M.S. in Human Resources Management from Columbia Southern University. Before his career in business/human resources, he earned an Ed.S. (Educational Specialist) in School Superintendency from Oakland City University, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instructional from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a B.A. in Secondary Spanish Education with a minor in English from Purdue University.
In addition to the SHRM-CP designation, he holds a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management from CSU. Lastly, he holds a Director of Human Resources Certification from the Indiana Association of School Business Officials.
Dr. Muñoz teaches undergraduate and graduate-level classes at Purdue University in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management. He serves as the SHRM-Purdue Chapter Co-Advisor. He has taught at Purdue University since 2017; however, he joined the Daniels School of Business in May of 2023.
Dr. Muñoz has over 20+ years in the industry working as a Restaurant General Manager, K-12 Teacher, Middle School/High School Assistant Principal, Middle School Principal, and Director of Human Resources. He served as a middle school principal for a large urban school (1,100 students) on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Most recently held the role of Human Resources Director for Classified Staff for a large school district in Indianapolis where he oversaw and led all HR operations. Additionally, he implemented new policies, procedures, and programs to best support the organization.
He has provided consulting/training services to Burger King Corporation, MIT Academy High School, Wabash National, Caterpillar, Fairfield Manufacturing Company, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Evonic, Arconic, and Indiana Packers.
