Yuchen Liu earned her Ph.D. in Strategic Communication from the University of Kansas in 2021. Before joining Purdue University, she served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Cleveland State University for three years. Throughout her academic career, Yuchen has taught a diverse range of courses, including Writing for Strategic Communication, Media Writing, Principles of Public Relations, Principles of Advertising, Principles of Social Media, Research Methods in Strategic Communication, and Communication Campaigns.

Yuchen’s teaching is influenced by her professional background in journalism and strategic communication. Prior to her Ph.D. studies, she worked as the Web/Social Media Producer for Channel 6 News, where she managed social media platforms, created online content, and maintained a highly-marketable website for the local cable news organization. During her time working at Channel 6, she also contributed to writing, editing, producing newscasts, and played a key role in organizing special event coverage.
