Jorge Romero-Day, Advisor and Executive in Residence, Mitch Daniels School of Business

Jorge is a Purdue University graduate with Masters of Science degrees in Agricultural Economics and Industrial Administration. Upon leaving the university he dedicated his life to an international career. This has taken him to develop and run businesses in the Food and Biotechnology industries across several different geographies and roles. These include living in the US, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. He started as a Product Manager in Indianapolis, progressing to General Manager, Managing Director, and ended his corporate career as Regional President for Latin America and member of the Strategic Leadership Team (C-Suite).

 

Jorge´s corporate ventures spanned through Elanco Animal Health, DuPont,  Prosegur, AB Mauri, Imerys and Royal DSM. Throughout this time, he coordinated a JV in China, and also launched seven entrepreneurial ventures. The last one of these, JRD Solutions, a consulting business, is still active. 

Currently, besides JRD, Jorge allocates his time to several engagements at Purdue University´s Daniels School of Business as an Executive in Residence for online programs, an Advisor in Residence for the Professional Development Center, as Lecturer at the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and guest speaker for several disciplines and courses.

Jorge´s current responsibilities:

  • Mitch Daniels School Career Business Services
    • Advisor to Master students on their preparation for their professional plans. This involves one on one consultation on resume writing, cover letters, networking, focused pitching on employers and networkee needs, interviewing techniques, etiquette and practices, handling objections, offer negotiation, individual issues, and others. Also, works and presents workshops based on the specific needs of each year´s class in coordination with peers and the academic sector.
  • Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
    • Lecturer of three sessions of ENTR 20000, the first level course of the Certificate of Entrepreneurship. This course introduces students to all basic functions of entrepreneurship and good business practices through actual theory, discussions of real life examples, and hands on experience via individual and team projects.
