In 2023, the Mitch Daniels School of Business partnered with Microsoft, SAS, INFORMS, Prediction Guard, Certipoint, and Purdue's Master of Business Analytics and Information Management (BAIM), Global Supply Chain Management, and Marketing programs, along with the Krenicki Center for Business Analytics and Machine Learning for the Data4Good competition. The inaugural competition drew 282 teams and 1,031 students from the United States in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Participants competed for $45,000 of prize money and registered teams received free practice exams for AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals and AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, expert instruction and vouchers to complete the Exam AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals – Certification. They also received Expert INFORMS Job Task Analysis (JTA) Training - the “blueprint” for the content of the INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) exam.
Participants drew upon holistic skills using data analysis, technology, research-based methods and artificial intelligence to solve the real-world problem of freeing up physicians from administrative note-taking.
The competition culminated at Purdue University, bringing students together with leading data analytics organizations for both credentialing and networking.
