Xing Wang

Dr. Xing Wang is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Quantitative Methods Area of the Daniels School of Business at Purdue University. Her research interests include operations research, optimization methods, transportation system analytics, data science, combinatorial optimization application in transportation, manufacturing, power system, finance, and healthcare. She earned her Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Before joining the Daniels School of Business, Xing was a mentor for VIP (Vertically Integrated Projects) and EPICS programs under Purdue Engineering School advising undergraduate experiential learning projects. Earlier she was teaching and mentoring data science and capstone courses at Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Harbert College of Business at Auburn University. She is always enthusiastic to integrate classroom learning with real-world problems by leveraging her extensive industrial experience.

Before joining academia, Xing worked as a lead engineer in GE Research for more than seven years. She made key contributions to a variety of high-profile projects to support the technology development for a variety of GE business divisions, including Aviation, Power, Oil and Gas, Capital, and Healthcare.  Her work focused on developing smart optimization algorithms to solve complicated large-scale real-world problems.
