For the past five years, Abbey Mikesell has served as the Director of Undergraduate Advising for the Daniels School of Business at Purdue University. In this role, Abbey oversees academic advising services for undergraduate students in the School of Business. Although Abbey had a brief experience as a hall director at Elmhurst University, Abbey has spent 13 years working with new student/family orientation and transition programs at Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in a variety of roles. Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, Abbey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. Over the course of her career, Abbey has held various NODA (Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education) leadership positions including Region V Coordinator, 2017 Annual Conference Chair, and faculty for the Orientation Professionals Institute (OPI). Abbey’s top five Strengths are: Harmony, Maximizer, Arranger, Individualization, and Communication.
