Dr. James Karan, CPA joined the Daniels School of Business as a Lecturer of Accounting in 2024. Prior to joining Purdue University, James held a tenured position at Marietta College in Marietta, OH. He has over a decade of experience in higher education teaching a wide variety of accounting and business topics.

James previously published research exploring stock price changes of firearm manufacturers in relation to mass shootings in the United States in the Journal of Accounting and Finance. Additionally, his dissertation focused on accounting ethics, exploring the ethical attitudes of accounting faculty in the United States.

James has taught courses in managerial accounting, financial accounting, taxation, and additional business and economics topics. At Purdue, James focuses primarily on tax and managerial accounting courses.
