Professor Green has served as a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati (1976-87) and Purdue University (1987-present). He became the Basil S. Turner Professor of Management in 2000 and a Distinguished Professor in 2007. His current research interests are leadership, work and family interfaces, and the management of technological innovation and has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, Research Technology Management, Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, the Center for Innovation Management Studies, the Center for International Business and Economic Research, and the Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises.
He has taught organizational behavior, leadership, managing technological innovation, teams, and research methods, receiving teaching awards at both UC and Purdue. Since joining Purdue, Professor Green has been named to the Teaching Academy and to the Book of Great Teachers. He has been awarded the School of Management's Salgo-Noren Outstanding Teacher Award and the R.B. and Mary Stewart Distinguished Teaching Award. He also received the Provost's Award for Outstanding Graduate Faculty Mentor, Purdue University, spring, 2007. He has taught in the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.
Professor Green is a member of the Academy of Management and the IEEE Engineering Management Society. He has served on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Review, the Journal of Organizational Behavior, the Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, the Journal of Technology Transfer, and the Purdue University Press. He also served as a special issue editor for AMJ and JET-M and on review panels for the National Science Foundation. Professor Green served as the Director of the Professional Masters Programs at the Krannert School (1995-98) and on Purdue University's Graduate Council. He also served as Area Coordinator and Ph.D. Program Coordinator for the OBHR faculty and the Management Policy Committee Chairman. He was a Center for Innovation Management Studies Fellow and served as a principal investigator and senior research scientist for the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue.
