Preetika Basak
Preetika Basak is a Ph.D. candidate in Strategic Management Purdue University’s Mitch Daniels School of Business. Her research examines entrepreneurship, strategic human capital, hiring, and career outcomes, with a focus on how organizations are built and how people make career decisions. Her current projects explore how founders’ prior experiences shape the hiring architecture of startups, why high-quality candidates may prefer established firms over startups, and who captures opportunities when rival firms unexpectedly exit the market. Drawing on a background in economics, public policy, and behavioral research on individual decision-making, she studies how market forces and human choices interact to shape organizational outcomes. She has also taught undergraduate Strategic Management and supported instruction across management, economics, leadership, and negotiation courses.
