What’s the biggest failure in our efforts to address care needs over a lifetime? What would a workforce or society organized around care priorities require businesses to do differently? Why do we view well-being as an individual’s issue?
These questions and more were explored in a recent Work and Family Research Network (WFRN) panel featuring leading researchers and thought leaders, including Daniels School Basil S. Turner Distinguished Professor Emerita of Management Ellen Ernst Kossek.
Kossek received a 2026 lifetime achievement award from WFRN, a nonprofit professional association for work-family leaders that recognizes those who have made lasting contributions to the work-family community.
As part of the June 18 awards ceremony, Kossek spoke on a WFRN panel exploring providing care across the life course, from early childhood to elder care and beyond.
Kossek, a prestigious scholar on the future of work, retired from the Daniels School in 2024 following a distinguished academic career at the university. Her scholarship has advanced the understanding of workplace flexibility, work-life boundaries and remote work, and employee well-being, influencing both research and organizational practice.
