Hailing from Palo Alto, California, Yash Vora said the Daniels School of Business and the IBE program stood out to him because they offered a unique blend of skills and opportunities at a large university.

Vora completed his summer internship at Apple as an engineering project management intern in Cupertino, California. During his internship, one of his favorite experiences was gaining access to schedule one-on-one meetings with other employees across the company. He added that it was encouraging to see how supportive the company is of interns and the impact they make.

Vora says that the BCS office’s impact is important for any student’s professional development. Vora notes that “as a freshman, internship recruiting was definitely an intimidating prospect, but the workshops, career fairs and faculty made it smoother for me to adjust and excel.”

Eliza Lutgen
PepsiCo

Originally from Kokomo, Indiana, Lutgen decided to attend the Daniels School of Business because of the IBE program, which offered a perfect combination of engineering and business.

Lutgen completed her recent internship at PepsiCo in Frankfort, Indiana, as a supply chain intern. Two memorable skills she learned from her internship that have transferred to her studies are the importance of networking and asking many questions. By interviewing across various departments, she gained industry knowledge that helped her determine the career path she wanted to take.

Through her experience with the BCS, she had the opportunity to take MGMT 295: Career Readiness & Exploration, a one-credit course taught by Daniels School career consultants. The course provided direction for her LinkedIn profile, resume and internship search, helping her gain confidence in her internship opportunities. One piece of advice she gives to Daniels School students is to apply to many different industries to find the job that’s your perfect match. Also, connecting with your interviewer will help you create a new connection and stand out from others.
