Faculty are responsible for assigning grades, and except for unusual circumstances, grades given are final. Students who don't agree with a grade earned must follow the grade appeal policy as detailed in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities Grade Appeal Process. Prior to initiating an appeal, students are strongly encouraged to resolve the situation with the instructor, department head or head's designee.
If you believe a grade was entered incorrectly, you must contact your instructor right away to get this resolved. Be sure to review your academic transcript in myPurdue at the end of each semester to check for accuracy. Any grade change due to a reporting error or appeal will result in a recalculation of the GPA and determination of academic standing. Academic standing is assessed during fall and spring semesters only (though summer grades do impact cumulative GPAs).
Being placed on academic notice is a notification from the university that we are concerned about your academic performance and progress. The formal policies around academic notice and separation can be found on the University Regulations website, but if you’re on academic notice, your advisor will be in touch with you to complete the Academic Intervention process. This process will allow you and your advisor to review the semester and identify difficulties you experienced. This information will then be used to create a plan of action, which may include referrals to campus resources. Your advisor's goal will be to assist you in returning to good academic standing. It is very important that you complete the academic notice intervention process and meet with your academic advisor within the first two weeks of the semester you’ve been placed on academic notice.
