Program Requirements

  • Complete 36 credit hours
  • Serve as a teaching or research assistant
  • Yearly paper presentation
  • Pass preliminary examination
  • Write and defend dissertation

Funding

Funding is available for up to five years, provided the student maintains satisfactory progress in the program. Funding beyond five years is up to the discretion of the department.

Curriculum

The Strategic Management doctoral curriculum consists of 36 total credit hours completed over four-five years. The curriculum is broken down into four focus areas: major specialization, research methods (choose one), minor specialization, and managerial skills. Managerial skills courses may be waived for individuals who have completed equivalent master’s-level coursework. Graduate Assistantship Appointments

Strategic Management PhD students will participate as a graduate research assistant (RA) or graduate teaching assistant (TA) each semester for four years.

Graduate Research Assistant (RA)

RA roles involve a PhD student in a faculty research project.

Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA)

TA roles often begin with tasks such as grading and helping in computer lab sessions and progress to course delivery responsibilities. All students are required to teach at least one course during their time in the program.
