The Management Information Systems (MIS) Department at the Daniels School of Business focuses on improving business processing through gathering, collecting, storing, analyzing, and disseminating information for managerial decision making. Departmental areas of expertise include database systems, computer networks, information security and privacy, human computer interaction, knowledge management, evolutionary computation, intelligent systems, and e-commerce.
Our MIS department is renowned in the field of business analytics and information management, as evidenced by INFORMS awarding our BAIM programs the 2023 UPS George D. Smith Prize.
MIS faculty are researching topics such as database systems, computer networks, information security and privacy, human computer interaction, evolutionary computation, and more. Their research has been published in journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Operations Research.
