Course Descriptions

Transformational Leadership Development - MGMT 44672

We learn about leadership by studying other great (and not so great) leaders.  Moreover, leadership is rarely mastered by sitting in a classroom.  In this unique educational experience, students will travel abroad to Europe while studying WWII, core leadership principles, and harrowing stories of courage and sacrifice. We will examine the styles and behaviors of famous transformational leaders (Churchill, Eisenhour, Patton, Winter), and infamous pseudo-transformational leaders (Hitler).  Emphasis is placed on social influence and what triggers an audience to commit to a cause or be vulnerable to influence.  We will also spend significant focus on the ‘under the radar’ leaders including the women leaders who helped inspire Allied victory in Europe.
