"At the Daniels School, we are committed to delivering the kind of experience that equips graduates for fast-track, high-level HR roles. Our hands-on approach is not just a supplement to academic learning — it’s a necessity. I view myself as an HR practitioner who teaches in higher education, not simply a professor of HR."
Brian Chupp
MSHRM Academic Director
Our students' future career goals and aspirations are in the forefront of everything we do. Professional development begins on day one. In addition to the theories and skills taught in the classroom, Daniels School Master of Human Resource Management students are gaining business knowledge and HR-specific leadership skills through networking, consulting, conferences and certifications.

The Daniels School provides MSHRM students with funding — $1,000 per student per year, $500 at their discretion — to support:
Purdue supports MSHRM students’ participation in top HR case competitions in the U.S., including The Ohio State University’s MHRM Case Competition and Penn State’s HR Case Competition.
The Purdue HR Case Competition & Working Well Conference offers students the chance to showcase their HR expertise by competing in both graduate and undergraduate divisions. Teams of 4-5 students present innovative solutions to real-world HR challenges in front of business leaders from top HR organizations. Cash prizes are awarded to the first and second-place teams in each division, as well as to the best individual speaker and Q&A responder. The Daniels School's HRM master’s program hosts the annual conference, giving students an excellent opportunity to engage with HR professionals and demonstrate strategic thinking.

Working in a team setting, this course provides real-life experience consulting with an organization to solve a real business problem. The focus is on human capital or human resource-related problems. Students benefit from working with a client to define the scope of their engagement, identify needs, conduct outside research (benchmark, market analysis), develop solutions and identify key deliverables. The project culminates with an executive summary presentation with tangible recommendations to the client’s senior leadership. This experience prepares students to serve as an HR Business Partner (HRBP).
The Daniels School of Business' MSHRM program provides Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) CP Certification prep and reimbursement of exam fees. The SHRM CP Certification is the premier credential for HR professionals, recognized across all industries for setting individuals apart in the field. The competency-based certification focuses on key HR skills as outlined in the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge® (SHRM BASK®). With flexible online learning and both remote and in-person testing options, earning your SHRM Certification is accessible and convenient.
MSHRM students can also take advantage of activities outside of the HRM department. From study abroad opportunities to joining one of more than 1,000 clubs or attending events in the Daniels School and across campus, students are encouraged to engage with the Purdue graduate student population to gain a diverse perspective of business, culture, lifestyles and more!
"Business Career Services have been so helpful. I was so impressed by how committed they were to helping me succeed in my internship search. Business Career Services had us write down a list of our top 40 companies, then provided guidance on how to best stand out in our interactions with those and other employers. They helped me land an internship at one of my top desired employers."
