Graduate Certificates require between 9-13 credit hours depending on the certificate
Certificates provide students with a specific high-level skill set and knowledge, boosting ROI from the academic experience. They can also be completed concurrently with MS degrees through strategic mapping of free electives.

The deadline for Fall admission is July 15th. Deadline for Spring admission is November 15th. The deadline for summer admission is March 15th.

For current degree seeking students, it is preferred that applications be submitted to a graduate certificate program one semester prior to the certificate start they are applying for.

All applicants of Graduate Certificates must pay the application processing fee. There are no waivers.
Existing degree seeking students are not eligible to be admitted into a graduate certificate program until they have completed at least one semester of coursework.
Yes, the courses in the certificates could be taken as electives with program approval. Completion may require additional credits beyond the graduate program’s normal degree requirements.
Yes, current MBA and Master’s students are eligible to complete an online certificate. A graduate school application is required for all such students. If desired, students can also complete residential versions of courses to complete the certificate. Any additional courses needed for the certificate can be taken online after graduation as an extension.

Purdue Alumni who have earned some or all the credits required to complete a Graduate Certificate can apply to earn or finish the Graduate Certificate within 5 years of graduating.

Some examples of how the graduate certificates could enhance a Master's degree include (but are certainly not limited to):

  • MS Business Analytics and Information Management student pursuing a graduate certificate in Innovation & Technology Commercialization.
  • MS Economics student pursuing a graduate certificate in Public Economics and Policy.
Note: Graduate students will not be permitted to apply to a graduate certificate that is in the exact same field of study as the graduate degree they are pursuing.
The certificate will be posted on the academic transcript separately from the master’s program once the requirements have been completed. It will be noted as a Graduate Certificate, from the Krannert School of Management.
