At the Daniels School’s Larsen Leaders Academy, we build leaders. We are fortunate to have leaders from all walks of life share their stories, experiences and expertise.
Welcome to the first installment of a new series called Lessons from Larsen, which will benefit not only our current and future students, but also alumni and organizations who are looking for a leadership advantage.
In this first lesson, we hear from academy founder Marshall Larsen, former CEO of the Goodrich Corporation. He shares with us his leadership philosophy and the importance of teamwork and ethics. It starts with doing the right thing.
At Goodrich, this meant trusting and involving your people. Tom Peters, who co-wrote the landmark 1982 business book In Search of Excellence, believed it was immoral not to bring out the best in your people and allow them to give you their best.
Marshall Larsen built an organization at Goodrich that did the right things by counting on his people. It is no surprise, then, that one of our guiding principles at the Larsen Leaders Academy is “You can count on me!”
