Simchi-Levi joined the faculty in January 2026 with a joint position in the Mitch Daniels School of Business and the College of Engineering’s Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering. Simchi-Levi is considered one of the premier thought leaders in supply chain management and business analytics. He is the founder and co-founder of several companies, including LogicTools, which became part of IBM in 2009; OPS Rules, which became part of Accenture in 2016; and Opalytics, which became part of Accenture Applied Intelligence in 2018. He has received the INFORMS Impact Prize, INFORMS Koopman Prize, Ford Motor Co. 2015 Engineering Excellence Award, INFORMS Daniel H. Wagner Prize for Excellence in Operations Research Practice, and others. He has published five books and more than 200 papers in top academic journals.

Before joining the Daniels School as research faculty in the Supply Chain and Operations Management Department, Dr. Michelle Xiao Wu served as co-director in the Data Science Lab at MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS). Prior to joining MIT/IDSS, she was an assistant professor at the Washington State University Carson College of Business. She holds a PhD in operations management (minor in economics), an MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, and an M.Sc. degree in Physics from Northwestern University. In her consulting experience with various companies, Wu provides implementable methods and strategies to optimize operational decisions, in manufacturing, e-commerce, and brick and mortar retail.
