Professor Mumford studies the effects of public policy in a variety of areas including education, taxation, labor market regulation, personal finance, and the measurement of wealth. His research is published in many of the top journals in economics including: American Economic Review, Management ScienceReview of Economics and StatisticsAmerican Economics Journal: Applied Economics, and the Journal of Econometrics.

Professor Mumford joined the Department of Economics at Purdue University in 2007. He serves as the Kozuch Director of the Purdue University Research Center in Economics (PURCE) and previously served as Director of Undergraduate Programs in Economics. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Stanford University and a B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University.
