Scholarship honors late BOP student Dominic Vargas
Dr. Cornell A. Bell Business Opportunity Program (BOP) student Dominic Vargas, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2018, will be honored with a posthumous Bachelor of Science degree in management from Purdue's Krannert School.
Vargas, who also served as president of the Society for Minority Managers (SMM), had completed 88 percent of his degree and was on track to graduate with his BOP classmates at the University's spring 2019 commencement ceremonies.
"Dominic Vargas was a very optimistic, fun-loving, great guy," says Darren Henry, director of BOP and Krannert's diversity initiatives "Whatever was going on within the BOP program or SMM and someone was in need, Dom was there. He was always willing to volunteer his time to help people."
The Dominic C. Vargas BOP Scholarship has been established in his memory. To learn more and to make a donation, please reach out to givingtobusiness@purdueforlife.org.
