2017-18 Annual Report and Message
Earlier this year, the Krannert School was reaccredited by AACSB, the gold standard for international management education. The visit team commended the school’s portfolio of offerings, the strength of our faculty and staff, and the experiential learning opportunities afforded to our students.
It was gratifying feedback and provided reinforcement to our mission. We believe we can become a preeminent school of the science of management that leverages our integration into one of the world’s leading engineering, science and technology universities. The key is focusing on better serving our students, building strong partnerships and capitalizing on our strengths in analytics.
Freezing tuition, as Purdue has done since 2013, is good. Getting students out into the workforce on time is even better. Krannert’s four-year graduation rate has soared from 42 percent to 74 percent, and 95 percent of our graduates are placed within three months. That’s the result of a lot of hard work, removing bottlenecks, optimizing course offerings and expanding student support. When an additional one-third of our students are able to secure an additional year of earnings and save one year of college costs, that really adds up — to a savings of $18 million per entering class.
And it’s not just Krannert majors. The expansion of coursework and summer online delivery has enabled students across campus to complete management minors and concentrations. A careful study of placement success on campus recently showed that a student graduating with a Krannert minor enjoys a starting salary as much as 13 percent higher than a Purdue student without a Krannert minor.
