Academic Programs in Mathematics Education

Elementary students in classThere are strong links between mathematics and economic education.  Economic problems provide some of the most accessible examples to students for learning mathematics.  Additionally, numeracy skills often prove essential to student understanding of personal finance and economic topics.

For undergraduates, mathematics education is a major in the College of Science. This program of study meets the requirements for certification to teach mathematics in the secondary schools of Indiana (grades 5-12) in addition to meeting the requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

The graduate program in mathematics education offers a vibrant and diverse community of faculty and graduate student scholars who conduct transformational research grounded in education theory and classroom practice.
